Both pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches are employed in managing hypertension. One non-pharmacological therapy is the administration of celery leaf decoction (Apium graveolens L.), which contains active compounds such as flavonoids and phthalides with potential blood pressure-lowering effects. Additionally, Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) techniques are effective in reducing blood pressure through physical and mental relaxation.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest without control group approach. The subjects were hypertensive patients at Adhyaksa Clinic, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The abstract contains background (a brief description of the problem and research objectives) methods used, the results of the research, and conclusions (indicate the main conclusions).</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: The majority of respondents were male (71.4%), aged 41–45 years (42.9%), held a bachelor's degree (85.7%), and worked as prosecutors (66.7%). The average systolic and diastolic blood pressures before the intervention were 149.52 mmHg and 89.52 mmHg, respectively, which decreased to 126.19 mmHg and 74.29 mmHg after the intervention. The use of Human Amnion Membrane (hAM) has been identified as a promising natural option for the treatment of skin lesions, including burns and diabetes mellitus. This hAM contains an extracellular matrix (ECM) with components such as growth factors, collagen, and proteoglycans as anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial in wounds. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of hAMD hydrogel treatment on wound closure in mice induced by alloxan macroscopically and microscopically on days 3, 7, 14, and 21.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: This research method, experimental using mice divided into 4 treatment groups, namely negative control (healthy group without treatment, DM without treatment), internal control (DM treatment carbopol) and DM treatment hAMD. Measurement of wound area (macroscopic), histology processing (Hematoxylin Eosin), reading of histology preparations (microscopic) and Two-way ANOVA test analysis using Graphpad Prism 10 was carried out.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The results of the study from 4 treatment groups where in the healthy group without treatment on the 21st day the wound closure was complete, the DM group without treatment on the 21st day the wound closure was not yet completely closed, in the DM carbopol treatment group on the 14th day the wound closure was not yet completely closed, and in the DM hAMD treatment group 15% on the 14th day the wound closure had closed completely. The emergence of various cases of resistance of MSSA bacteria to various antibiotics both in the community and in hospitals (nosocomial infections), has triggered the development of herbal medicines, one of which is the areca nut (<em>Areca catechu L</em>) which is thought to have antibacterial effects. The purpose of this research was to determine the antimicrobial effect of alkaloids in areca nut extract against MSSA bacteria.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: Areca nut was extracted with 96% ethanol using the maceration method and continued with areca nut seeds and fractionation of the alkaloid active substances with ethanol-water, n-hexane and ethyl acetate (1:1) solvents. The sensitivity test of bacteria using the Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method with duplex repetitions. Amoxcillin clavulanat used as standard antimicrobial of antimicrobial test.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The extract components contained are alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins. Exposure to tobacco smoke is one of the major risk factors. In Indonesia, where smoking is prevalent, children exposed to passive smoke face a higher risk of dental caries.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: A systematic review was conducted, focusing on studies published between 2019 and 2024. Literature was selected using specific keywords, with cross-sectional studies emphasizing the correlation between passive smoking and dental caries in children.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: Of the 11 selected studies, 9 demonstrated a significant correlation between passive smoking and dental caries, with P-values below 0.05. However, the two studies showed no significant relationship, potentially due to small sample sizes or other external factors like diet or hygiene.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Exposure to cigarette smoke significantly increases the risk of dental caries in children, necessitating public health interventions to reduce exposure and prevent oral health problems.</p> Mira Sri Gumilar, Hendry Boy Copyright (c) 2025 Riset Informasi Kesehatan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jurnal.stikes-hi.ac.id/index.php/rik/article/view/1022 Sat, 31 May 2025 00:00:00 +0700 The application Pentol Bakar as an innovation at RSJID Dr. Amino Gondohutomo: A scoping review https://jurnal.stikes-hi.ac.id/index.php/rik/article/view/1008 <p><strong>Background</strong>: The "Pentol Bakar" application was developed to evaluate Pentol Bakar as an innovation in patient pick-up services for mental health emergencies and to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the service, as well as to conduct a SWOT analysis of the Pentol Bakar service for patients with mental health issues.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: The literature search method in this study is a scoping review, involving searching for journals or research articles through search engines. The process of article search and selection then used PRISMA-ScR. This review found a total of 893 articles, and the review results indicated that 5 articles were relevant to the research topic.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: . The analysis showed that the "Pentol Bakar" application had some shortcomings for patients and/or their families, including limited exposure to and understanding of technology and the application, inability to pay for the service, and difficulty for healthcare workers in obtaining detailed information about the patient's condition. On the positive side, the application made it easier to provided broader access to services and made hospital services more efficient.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: This study explores the outcomes related to psychiatric emergency handling, including the SWOT analysis. This study aims to analyze the relationship between gender, residential status, and experiences of sexual violence among students in Bengkulu City.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: The method used is quantitative with analytical observational design, involving 525 randomly selected respondents. Data were collected through online surveys at state and private universities in Bengkulu.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The results of the analysis showed that although women are more vulnerable to becoming victims of sexual violence, there was no significant relationship between gender and the experience of sexual violence (p = 0.138) &gt;0.05. Patient adherence to medication is a significant factor affecting the efficacy of hypertension treatment. Regulated blood pressure is an indicator of the efficacy of antihypertensive treatment.</p> <p><strong>Objective: </strong>This study seeks to assess the correlation between adherence to antihypertensive medication and patient characteristics, antihypertensive kinds, and hypertension categorization.</p> <p><strong>Methods: T</strong>his research employed a descriptive-analytical methodology with a cross-sectional design. The sample method employed was purposive sampling. Seventy-eight respondents participated in interviews utilizing a compliance questionnaire. Statistical analysis of the data was conducted utilizing the chi-square test method.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong>The study showed that most respondents had a high level of compliance (46.15%). Most respondents had blood pressure in the stage 2 hypertension category (46.15%). This research aims to identify the anxiety risk factors among students at STIKES Al-Su'aibah, highlighting the prevalence and impact of these factors on their mental health.</p> <p><strong>Method: </strong>A quantitative descriptive study was conducted using closed questionnaires to collect structured data from students. This approach allows for the measurement and comparison of responses, enabling the identification of specific patterns and characteristics related to anxiety risk.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong>Out of 138 participants, 53.3% reported no anxiety, while 43.3% experienced mild to moderate anxiety, with 3.3% facing severe anxiety. Factors influencing anxiety include academic pressure, limited social support, and lifestyle choices such as dietary habits and physical activity levels. Notably, the study found a significant relationship between smoking and anxiety levels (p = 0,02).</p> <p><strong>Conclusion </strong>: The findings indicate a notable prevalence of anxiety among students, underscoring the need for enhanced mental health screening and support programs at educational institutions. In Indonesia, early childhood that has used screen time is around 68.01% for watching television, 33.44% using cellphones, and 24.96% have accessed the internet. The use of screen time among early childhood should be reduced because it can affect children to have lower nutrition that can lead to malnutrition and other metabolic disease.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: This research method uses literature review with a narrative approach. Places that have the potential to cause accidents in children can come from anywhere, be it the highway, home and its surroundings, school and its surroundings. Accidents at school are the cause of 40% of injuries in children. Lack of understanding of risks or dangers, use of unsafe equipment, and the materials used also affect children's safety. This study aims to determine the determinants of safety behavior in children in elementary schools.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: This research used mixed methods and Convergent Parallel Design approaches.. Researchers collected quantitative data for the safety knowledge variable, while qualitative data for safety perceptions, safety behavior and availability of safety infrastructure. The research subjects were students and teachers, at SD Muhammdiyah Guntur Geni Srandakan District. Natural-based sunscreens are an innovative alternative to synthetic sunscreens, which may have side effects such as irritation and allergic reactions. </span><span class="s9">Dragon’s blood </span><span class="s9">(</span><span class="s18">Daemonorops</span> <span class="s18">draco</span><span class="s9"> (</span><span class="s9">Willd</span><span class="s9">.) Blume) is known for its strong antioxidant properties due to its flavonoid content, particularly </span><span class="s9">dracorhodin</span><span class="s9">, which has the potential to be formulated as a sunscreen. This study aims to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of </span><span class="s9">jernang</span><span class="s9"> resin sunscreen in providing UV protection and improving skin moisture and brightness.</span></p> <p class="s19"><span class="s15">Method</span><span class="s9">: </span><span class="s9">A clinical trial was conducted involving 30 volunteers aged 18–50 years with normal skin and no history of allergies or skin diseases. The study included irritation tests, hedonic evaluations, skin brightness assessments, moisture level analysis using a Skin Analyzer, and UV protection effectiveness using a UV Camera over 30 days. The statistical analysis was performed using One-Way ANOVA and Duncan's test for significant differences.</span></p> <p class="s19"><span class="s15">Results</span><span class="s9">: </span><span class="s9">The results showed that the </span><span class="s9">jernang</span><span class="s9"> resin sunscreen exhibited significant UV protection, maintaining its effectiveness for 30 days. It also enhanced skin moisture and brightness compared to the control group. The hedonic test revealed high acceptability regarding color, texture, and aroma. In this study, gambier extraction was carried out by boiling. The obtained Gambier extract is then tested for quality according to SNI 01-3391-1994. From the quality test results, it was concluded that the Gambier produced met quality 1. The gambir extract was tested for its antibacterial activity against <em>Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli</em> and <em>Pseudomonas aeruginosa</em>. Antibacterial tests against S. aureus and E. coli, with concentrations of 10%, 15%, and 20%, show strong inhibition activity. While the antibacterial test against P. aeruginosa at a concentration of 10% has moderate inhibition, at concentrations of 15% and 20% has strong inhibition. One of them is in Pontianak City, 15.8% experienced stunting. Of the 6 sub-districts, East Pontianak District has the highest cases of stunting at 20.8% of toddlers. Objective: To determine the relationship between the use of technology, nutritional knowledge, family support, culture and lifestyle with the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-59 months in the Kapuas River area, Pontianak City. The population in this study was all children aged 24-59 months in the riverside area Kapuas.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: The research design used case control with a 1:1 sample (92 samples). The sampling technique for the group of cases (Stunting) in this study was carried out using a probability sample, namely simple random Stunting and non-Stunting toddlers aged 24-59 months in the Kapuas River area, Pontianak City (Case) Retrospective (Control) sampling. In this study, the sample was divided into two, namely case samples and control samples, each of which had inclusion and exclusion criteria, consisting of 46 cases and 46 controls. The statistical test used was chi-square with a confidence level of 95%.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: This research shows that there is a relationship between maternal nutritional knowledge (p value = 0.002 OR = 4.330), family support (p value = 0.011 OR = 3.248), lifestyle (p value = 0.001 OR=4.680) and there is no relationship between utilization technology (p value = 1.000 OR = 1.102), culture (p value = 0.210 OR = 1.852).</p> <p><strong>Conclusion</strong>: Increasing mothers' knowledge regarding nutrition is one of the factors that can influence the occurrence of stunting in children under five, both in rural and urban areas. The similarity of LASA drugs is a serious concern because it can cause confusion among pharmacist and increases the possibility of errors at dispensing, such as taking the wrong drug. LASA drug management is pharmacist’s responsibilities in pharmaceutical services. This study aims to evaluate the knowledge of pharmacist and the management of LASA drugs in Semarang Regency Pharmacies.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: This study is a non-experimental study. Questionnaires were given to pharmacists in Semarang Regency Pharmacies. The results were tested using Chi Square to determine the relationship between knowledge and management, knowledge and errors in taking LASA drugs and management and errors in taking LASA drugs.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The results of the study showed that the knowledge of pharmacists &gt;70% was in the good category. LASA drug management has been carried out in &gt;70% of pharmacies. There are still 32.47% medication errors in taking LASA drugs. Morinda citrifolia L. (Noni) has been traditionally used for its medicinal properties, including its antibacterial effects. This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity of Noni leaf extract cream and its potential as an acne treatment..</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Method</strong>: The study involved preparing a cream formulation using ethanol extract of Noni leaves at varying concentrations (1.25%, 2.50%, and 5.00%). The antibacterial activity was tested using the Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method against&nbsp;<em>Streptococcus pyogenes</em>, a common bacterium associated with acne. The cream was also subjected to organoleptic testing, pH testing, viscosity measurements, spreadability tests, and adhesion tests to assess its quality and stability.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Results</strong>: The cream showed significant antibacterial activity, with a zone of inhibition ranging from 5.79 mm to 9.16 mm, depending on the concentration of Noni leaf extract. The highest antibacterial activity was observed at 5.00% concentration, with a large inhibition zone of 9.16 mm. Additionally, the cream maintained a stable pH and showed good physical properties, including uniform consistency and spreadability. The cream did not exhibit any significant changes in appearance, smell, or texture during the stability testing.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Conclusion</strong>: The results indicate that Noni leaf extract cream has promising antibacterial effects, particularly at higher concentrations, and could effectively treat acne. Self-help skills are motor skills that can help children to fulfill basic needs independently through Activities Daily Living (ADL). Therefore, adults around them, including caregivers in orphanages, need to teach self-help skills to improve children's ADL independence.</p> <p><strong>Objectives:</strong> This study aims to determine the effect of self-help skills on Activities Daily Living (bathing, brushing teeth, personal hygiene, toileting, dressing,&nbsp; and eating) independence in pre-school children with child abuse which is measured by ADLIC (Activities of Daily Living Iranian Children).</p> <p><strong>Methods:</strong> Respondents in this study were pre-school children with child abuse who were given&nbsp;&nbsp; self-help skills with a total of 36 respondents divided into intervention and control groups. The research design used a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pre-post test. The bivariate analysis used in bathing, brushing teeth, personal hygiene, and toileting variables was paired t-test, while the variables of dressing and eating was used Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.</p> <p><strong>Results:</strong> The p-value result in the intervention group is 0.000 (&lt;0.05) which indicates that there is a difference in ADL ability from before and after the intervention. In the control group, the p-value&gt; 0.05 was obtained, indicating that there was no difference between ADL abilities before and after. There &nbsp;is a significant average increase in the intervention group compared to the control group.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:&nbsp;</strong>The results of this study indicate that there are average increase in the independence of Activities Daily Living (ADL) in pre-school children with child abuse in the intervention group after being given treatment in the form of self-help skills.</p> <p>Therefore, it is hoped that all parties involved in the care of children with a history of child abuse are able to minimize the impact that occurs due to child abuse and understand the concept of self-help skills that support the development of the independence of ADL.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> Junita Lusty, Titin Sutini, Nyimas Heny Purwati, Triana Srisantyorini Copyright (c) 2025 Riset Informasi Kesehatan https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://jurnal.stikes-hi.ac.id/index.php/rik/article/view/1034 Sat, 31 May 2025 13:37:58 +0700 Formulation and physical quality test of Kerinci Arabica Coffee: Skin waste scrub preparation https://jurnal.stikes-hi.ac.id/index.php/rik/article/view/982 <p><strong>Background</strong>: Scrubs are traditional cosmetic preparations that are prescribed for generations and are used to remove dead skin cells, impurities and open pores so that air exchange is free and the skin becomes brighter and whiter Previous phytochemical research shows that the bioactive properties of Kerinci Arabica coffee bark consist of alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins and tannins, Therefore, coffee peel has great potential to be used as an ingredient for the manufacture of scrubs. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the formulation and physical quality test of scrub preparations.</p> <p><strong>Method</strong>: The research method used is experimental in a laboratory with a Complete Random Design (RAL). Powder scrub formulations are made in 3 formulas with the weight of each formula being 100 g. The physical quality stability test of powder scrub preparations was carried out on the 1st, 7th and 14th days including organoleptic, moisture content, homogeneity, pH, drying time, and adhesion.</p> <p><strong>Results</strong>: The test results found that during 2 weeks of storage, the scrub preparations made had met the requirements of good physical quality.
